Highlights of a Previous Summer

During the summer of 2007 113 children from Israel and abroad were enrolled at camp, with an average of 53 campers each week. Campers enjoyed the warm, intimate atmosphere that encouraged the integration of all the campers into an extended "camp family." Our staff did a wonderful job using their talents, creativity and endless energy to ensure a successful summer experience for our campers.

The theme for 2007 was "Jerusalem." Each week we celebrated 40 years since the reunification of this amazing city, as we learned about everything from the Holy Temple and the Western Wall to the biblical animals that call Jerusalem home. At our weekly Oneg Shabbat programs we reflected on what we had learned, sang some Shabbat songs, heard a d'var Torah, and watched skits performed by every camper at the JDC.

With the help of a talented staff, we were able to offer arts and crafts, sports, music, Israeli dancing, and drama to our campers on a daily basis. In addition, campers went swimming almost every day, played games and planned special activities with their groups, and made new friends.
