The Jewish Atmosphere on TRY
Students from all sectors of the Jewish community in North America join together in the TRY program, many of them veteran Ramah campers who bring with them the love of Jewish learning and Jewish traditions. Shabbat, Jewish holidays, kashrut and tefilah are integral to the program. A variety of activities stimulate students to develop their own personal, meaningful Jewish lifestyles.

Shabbat on TRY
There are three types of Shabbatot during the program:
Host Family Shabbat : Students spend Host Shabbatot with families, either of their own choosing or with host families arranged by TRY.
Group Shabbat : Students spend Shabbat together and participate in organized activities. Some of these Shabbatot are held off-campus and others at the "Chava" (the Israel Goldstein Youth Village). When the group is together, a traditional Shabbat is observed, including festive meals, visiting various types of synagogues, and the maintenance of Sabbath observance in the public dormitory areas which will be respectful of the religious backgrounds of all participants.
Open Shabbat : Students have the option of visiting with friends or relatives or of remaining on campus in a restful Shabbat atmosphere without any organized activities.
